Frosty Footrace 5K Race Report

I think the pictures tell the story of this year's Frosty Footrace 5K quite well. Big thanks to both Kim's and my husbands for playing the role of the paparazzi.

Finishing our warm up

Just before the start

Struggling hard just past the mile 2 marker

This hill SUCKS!!!!

Oh my god, the clock says 24 something!

I did it!

We finished!!

And look what I get!

First (Kim) and Third (me) in our age groups

My bronze medal

My splits were awful and I really struggled during the third mile (when the hills start) but Kim told me over and over again that I had this race. That I was strong. That I was capable. I'm so thankful for her encouragement. I'm also not ashamed to say that I grunted with every step during the sprint to the finish line. Those things got me my new 5K PR of 24:54 and third place in my age group.

I have several other 5Ks lined up for the year and I'm while I'm pretty sure my times will just keep getting better, I'm also pretty sure that this will be the only medal I get. Which is why I love the Frosty Footrace. Running a race with my best friend and I have a chance to win a medal? What more could I ask for?

That is an AMAZING time! Nice job!
yay! That is super awesome. Congrats on the time AND the medal!
Erin, I am so proud of you for how hard you pushed through this 5K, with having to take time off, and your injury. If you did so well yesterday, just imagine what you are capable of in the future when you are feeling 100%! You have so much racing power in you! :)

Ha, that kind of makes it sound like I don't think this PR is a big deal, but you know I think it's AWESOME!!! Again, I am so so proud of you, and so happy I could be there running with you. When I wasn't walking up that DAMN FRICKING HILL!!!

Your pics turned out so good! I may have to get them from you some time. We accidentally had the white balance off on our camera setting. Oops.

Thanks for coming to run with me. I love running with you, and having you in my life.

CONGRATS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)
looks like you had a great race! Yay! PR!
Hooray new 5k PR!
Congratulations on the sub-25 pr! That is a really great accomplishment, especially since you had to forge over a hill! This sounds like a really fun race, all the moreso because you got to run it with Kim!
Erin, um....you ROCK!! Congrats on your PR and finishing in your age group - I've never done that before, what an awesome feeling that must be! Take that, shins. :-)
Frosty Footrace must be very exciting.
