July Wrap-Up

What happened in July?

Well, I ran a total of 68.58 miles for the month. Or, approximately anyway. For the first time since I got my Garmin at Christmas I forgot it while doing an outdoor run. Regardless, I guesstimated the distance for that one using G-map pedometer. I think it was pretty close.

But, of course, that's not the big thing that happened in July. Oh no. Because this past month I not only ran my second half-marathon, I also got to meet Holly in person for the first time! Meeting her, running together, and spending so much time together made my first "destination" race more fun that I could have ever imagined.

I think July really summed up for me why I like blogging about my running. Through this blog I've managed to keep track of my mileage and my memories. But, more importantly, I've made two new in-person connections with people and deepened my connections with others.

Granted, Holly and I already knew each other from another blogging platform, but I think that sharing our training via our blogs really helped us support one another leading up to our race. Running with Kim at lunch gives me something to look forward to during long days and weeks at work. I'm super excited about our upcoming 5K even if Kim did just have a birthday that put her into the same age group as me. I was hoping I wouldn't have to compete against her :-)

And, recently, I met Jessica in person as well! We met through our blogs and she invited me to a party called "Born to Fit" where we got to try on jeans from the Gap's new denim line. Seriously. A party filled with wine, food, and clothes? Free clothes? All because I started a little running blog? Who knew? The party was fabulous, I found jeans I like (although, I'm a popular size so I have a coupon for a free pair to redeem instead of a new pair of jeans already in my drawer.), I chatted with so many wonderful and interesting women, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Can you think of a better premise for a party?

Overall, although I'm sort of floundering as to where I want to go next with my running and training, I know that my blog will always play a huge role no matter what I do. As always, stay tuned!

I love how easy it is to keep track of my running by logging it in my blog too! I am almost thinking I need my own running blog though. It gets to be too much, making a long week re-cap!

I am so amazed that blogging has allowed me to meet so many cool people, especially you! :)
