I love my Monday night two-milers. Even when they're on the treadmill (as they have been since I started this thing). For 20 minutes or so I don't have to think about anything but those two miles. Well, unless I'm watching Jeopardy! and want to shout out answers. But, I don't have to think about work. I don't have to think about running hard or longer. I don't have to think about the dog. I don't have to think about dishes or cleaning or laundry or any of those other bits of minutia that makeup our lives. I don't have to think about anything but running those easy two miles.
I've been feeling a little out of sorts lately. A little down. A little bored. A little discontent. But running always makes me feel good. Could be endorphins. Could be the alone time. Who knows. I just know that even when I get home at the end of the work day and all I really want to do is lay face down on my bed once I pull on my running clothes and get moving I always feel better. At least for a little bit.
Also, I've noticed recently that my shoulders and clavicle-area no longer start to ache when I run. I think this is due to my Pilates classes. I think my instructor must get really tired of saying, "Shoulders down and back!" Focusing on not hunching my shoulders (as I am wont to do) has really helped my running form.
Now, if I could just get my quads to stop aching....

Erin,
I think we all go through periods of ups and downs. With the weather breaking soon, I am sure you will be in better sorts before you know it.
Good luck and hang in there!
You and I need to go running together. It will boost both of our spirits up!
Aww it's normal to have some down days. This oppressive fall weather will not end! I feel that way too sometimes.
